As with any of Antigua’s Spring collections, outerwear is a fashion and a utilitarian asset. This season’s offerings utilize fabrics that mirror the golf shirts they’re designed to accompany. Fabric weights are embellished, to serve as warmth and protection without encumbering the golfer. Performance fabrics are engineered for function first and then interpreted into appealing layering garments.

“Designed to be multifunctional, our Spring ’16 outerwear styles can be worn to accommodate the season and the temperature,” says Sean Gregg, Vice President of Product and Development and Marketing Support. “Whether a style is worn over a polo or under windwear, it will accomplish the level of comfort desired.”

Four Styles

In keeping with trend, Circulate epitomizes this season’s fashion look of mixed heather patterns dyed in this palette. Pieced with solid interlock insets that separate the variation of distinct heather designs style Circulate is a wear anywhere and wear often style. Circulate is comfort, style and function in a mid-weight knit outerwear garment.

Split utilizes the jersey/spandex fabric developed for Antigua’s self collar polo style Edge, with more weight for long-sleeve knit outerwear. The color combinations of this style’s quarter-zip pullover are offered in every shade of pin-striped grey heather that are made more distinguishable with only the zipper’s fabric tape color and the collar’s inset of solid jersey as standout contrasts.

Horizon sets itself apart by using color blocking and mesh-inspired silicone print partial stripes. Placed just below the chest seam and back seam horizon lines, the silicone print is where color is added to embellish the style’s neutrality. Front and back contrasting jersey/spandex knit yoke fabric utilizes the exaggerated heather yarns that are also found in, and match back to, polo styles such as Element, Expanse and Surface. Horizon’s casual nuance reflects the outerwear category’s intention of not being limited to a single-wearing situation.

Rounding out the knit outerwear category for Antigua’s Spring ’16 collection is Ally. A multi-yarn fabric was developed as a three-dimensional jersey faced fleece. The jersey face uses tightly twisted colored heather yarns and a contrasting geometrically engineered jacquard fleece backing. The full-zip cardigan expands Ally’s versatility. Hip placement zip pockets aspire to the style’s jacket sensibility while the fleece’s lightweight breathability helps it wear as comfortably as a sweatshirt.

The Desert Dry product family includes any garment using a fabric weight of 150 gsm or heavier. Typically fabrics over 150 gsm offer more body and improved drape for the customers who don’t like the ultra-lightweight “clingy” fabrics currently in the market. Examples of Desert Dry styles are Gypsy, Element, Jewel, Ascent, Stroke, Strive, Movement, Maverick, Equity and Pure.

DESERT DRY™ XTRA-LITE (D2XL) combines Antigua’s exclusive DESERT DRY™ moisture-wicking feature with specially constructed ultra-light fabrics for maximum wicking performance and optimum comfort. The D2XL product family includes any garment using a fabric weight of 150 gsm or lighter. These fabrics have been specially engineered to be lightweight while not being overly sheer. This is possible through the use of ultra-fine yarns which gives a fabric more body while not dramatically increasing the weight. Examples of D2XL styles are Champ, Jubilee, Premium, Radical & Modern.
