Founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi, Bridgestone has always been guided by the philosophy of our founder to “Serve Society with Superior Quality.” Over the years, the pursuit of superior quality has resulted in Bridgestone becoming the global market leader in the rubber industry and in polymer science technologies.
Today the company continues to push the performance capabilities for all our products with an unmatched commitment to Research and Development.
Today Bridgestone shares the same passion for the game of golf as our founder. Mr. Ishibashi converted his golf passion into a commercial success when the company first produced golf balls in 1935.
Along with technical developments in tire technology came breakthroughs in golf ball technology that have led the company to be the number one golf ball producer in Japan.
Design and production of golf clubs followed in 1972 with the same passion for excellence propelling them to a leadership position in the current marketplace.
Callaway Golf was founded in 1982 by the late Ely Callaway, a visionary entrepreneur who operated under a simple but profound business promise: Deliver Demonstrably Superior, Pleasingly Different products and services. That philosophy turned what was originally a boutique manufacturer of high-quality wedges and putters into the world’s largest maker of premium, performance golf products. The Callaway mission and vision has remained the same; we passionately pursue advanced, innovative technologies that help golfers of all abilities find more enjoyment from the game. Under the Callaway and Odyssey brands, Callaway manufactures and sells golf clubs and golf balls, and sells golf apparel, footwear and accessories in more than 110 countries worldwide.
“Chromax was launched in 2007 at the annual PGA Golf show in Orlando. We love the traditions of golf but wanted something a little different. We love colored golf balls. However, more than just a golf ball with color, we wanted something that would really enhance the game of golf. What we came up with was Chromax golf balls. The Chromax golf ball has a metallic layer that reflects sunlight like a mirror and its elegant colors add a little character. Easy to see and beautiful to look at. That’s what we were after. Of course, we also made sure it’s USGA tournament legal because we don’t want to change the game. We just want to make it a little more fun.
Many of us don’t remember the days when tennis balls were white. Tennis is a sport that reveres tradition and many players resisted the introduction of the bright green balls that nearly everyone plays today.
Golf also respects its history. But certain innovations are hard to resist. Woods were once made of wood. But metal woods proved so superior that tradition had to give way.
The new Chromax golf ball is another such innovation. The patented reflective finish is so much more visible – on the green and in the air – that only the hard and fast traditionalist will continue to play the white ball. Its remarkable brightness on the green will save search time and sharply reduce the loss of balls. Its visibility in the air allows the golfer to watch the ball in flight and more easily correct his or her swing. The ball is also beautiful: Many end up on display.
This is one of those times when tradition must give way to a superior innovation that will enhance the game of golf: The Chromax Metallic Golf Ball.”

FL Golf started out as a mom-and-pop manufacturing and distributing company founded by Delphia Lee and Chuck Womer. They began by targeting vacationers on golf getaways, who were immediately drawn to the distinctiveness of the product line. The balls were an instant hit. Their soft 70 compression level complimented the average golfer perfectly, providing a soft feel and controlled response. Golfers began to ask for them by name and Crystal Balls’ popularity spread like wildfire. To highlight the balls’ affordability and quality (and make them easier to spot on the green), they were enhanced with colored cores wrapped in crystal-like covers, making their vibrancy nick-proof and unique in the industry.
Recently, Delphia and Chuck turned over the reins to the next generation, Delphia’s daughter and her husband, Katharine and David Springstead, who bring new vision to the company, beginning with the purchase of FL Golf-Volvik in early 2010. Katharine’s hands-on approach and network of experienced sales reps works one-on-one with golf, pro and sports shops to deliver Crystal’s golf ball lines, exceptional service and wholesale prices. Katharine looks forward to getting her son, Spencer involved more and more as he gets older carrying on the tradition for 3 generations!
OnCore Golf was formed by two young entrepreneurs – Bret Blakely and Steve Coulton – who thought that making the game of golf more enjoyable through innovative products like a hollow metal core golf ball was a great idea. OnCore was the first venture for both of them, but they had a great network of advisors and supporters, including a world class advanced materials engineer, an experienced venture investor and technology company founder, and several others. After the first few years of product development, customer feedback, and performance optimization, industry notables and investment leaders from around the country joined Team OnCore.
The MA-1.0 golf ball is the product of years of R&D work covered by three issued patents and a lot of trade secret know-how, with millions of investment dollars behind the technology. It is the third generation of OnCore’s product optimization work and current the only ball employing a hollow metal core. There is no other ball in the world that can offer the same performance benefits to golfers of all skill levels, and despite numerous challenges and objections, the ball was deemed “conforming” by the USGA.
OnCore’s mission is to infuse fun and enjoyment into an amazing sport, while continuing to introduce game changing technology and products that remain within the Rules of golf.
